Week two: Metacognitive strategies.

My impression of this article is the different ways that a teacher can use metacognitive methods with the students, basically with this method we as teachers can help to our students the way that they learned, how they acquired a new language and, how they can continue learning by their own.

In this article show how important is that as a teacher we have this idea clear this will help you facilitate the students learning process and how metacognitive strategies help to motivate students. In other words, this method is designed to understand how students “think” about their thinking and give us a different point of view about how important is to understand this as teachers first.

Another really inserting point of view that reflect this article is about autonomy learning which is an essential step that a student needs to take in this part explain that a student is responsible for their own learning which at the same time is really difficult because nowadays students can get distracted with anything and loss the focus they just want everything really fast and easy and moreover if they take advantage of technology, but as teacher we need to take the control when is necessary so, they do not loss the focus and explain how important is for them.

Basically as future teacher we need to take advantage of the metacognitive method and known that are many ways to incorporate in a class so, we can continue helping our students in their knowledge process.

  4. I totally agree with Angelica, "teachers must be aware of what is being done, the reason behind it and how to make it happen." (Levi & AStickwell, 2006). In other words, we as instructors must be mindful when using strategies that help students to become independent learners. Firstly, it is necessary for us to design demanding activities that promote self-evaluation and that are engaging for students. Second, it is our job to identity and address the constraints that may hinder students' autonomy, such as lack of technical competence, lack of interest and poor learners' interaction. Third, students also need to contribute to this process by managing their time and being consistent, thus they will be able to achieve proficiency in the second language. Finally, an opinion that Angelica and I share is that helping students to become autonomous will not only help them in a language academyc context, but also in lifelong leaning.

  6. Hello Angelica, I agree with you because is important that we as teachers know about meta cognitive strategies because with this knowledge we can help our students to start thinking about the topics and the classes because in this way they may learn more and develop their own way of think.
